XRAY T2'008 Setup - Bourne Hill RaceTrack |
|
Please find a link to the setup I'm using in the Open Championship at Coastal MCRC.
As mentioned in another thread it still gives me a little understeer on power but I hope to dial that out this weekend and then I'll post an update.

For those that don't know the circuit it's quite small and tight with almost a half oval for the main straight. The tarmac is quite dirty and the whole thing is on a slope away from the rostrum.
The other thing I've found with this setup that differs from my original T2 is that it is stable from lap 1 where previously my setups have always been extremely nervous at the rear until tyre temp comes up. Maybe this is the trade off for the understeer but we'll see.

Tyre Wear:
Some interesting observations on how this setup performed over the Coastal 240 Endurance Race.
The setup is very easy on the rears.
This was quite obvious as although it was taking 3 or 4 laps to warm up the fronts the rear tyres were taking another 4 or 5 laps before they were stable. This was an even greater issue at the start of the race when I chose to run CS27 as I thought track temp was OK.
After switching to some CS22 I did get up to speed much quicker but after 8 or 9 minutes I could definitely feel the fronts go off. Probably overheating judging from the retained heat back in the pits. £ 10 min stints on CS22s has taken all the life from them but a quick switch front to back and they set worked for another 3 runs.
My plan is to try CS27 up front, keeping CS22 on the rear to see if that settles the car during the first 5 laps.

Sounds ok on paper BUT in practice using different tyres front to rear is not a good idea
Speak to MR B he runs X-Ray with the fastest lap of the day i would be suprised if he was not running SSB's Sunday

10/10 for obseration Trev.
I love em,all year round i dont use anything else.
I probably did about 300 of our laps and all on 1 set of SSB's. Granted, they are going in the bin now but thats pretty good i reckon.
I only changed a few things from West london set-up and i was happy with how it was handling on a layout that had so many direction changes.
In case anyones interested this is how i ended up:
Front...
30wt oil
2.4 springs
3 hole pistons,drilled out to 1.2mm
Medium Anti-roll bar
Top shock position,2nd hole in from outside.
5.5mm ride height
2mm Droop
-1.5 negative camber
0.5 degrees toe-in
Spool.
Standard roll centre settings
Rear:
30wt oil
2.4 springs
3 hole pistons,drilled out to 1.2mm
Top shock position,2nd hole in from outside
NO Anti roll bar
5.5mm ride height
2.5mm Droop
-2.0mm negative camber
3.0 degrees toe-in
Tight diff.
Short wheelbase.
Standard roll centre settings
T2 '008 6 cell EU
LRP TC speedo, set on Profile 7
Prince 10.5 motor
27/84=5.29-1
Trakpower 4900's
Hot Bodies Alfa 159,gives loads of slow speed steering.
Weight added so that all 4 corners are within 5gms.
I was getting 12.5 mins out of this setup and in the last stint by driving very carefully got 13.5mins.
Caution for anyone who try's this setup,i do like an aggresive handling car.
Paul.

Excellent, thanks Mr. B
That means we now have 2 setups for Bourne Hill. A really spongy soft and predictable one. And an aggressively tuned fast one.
I'll see if I can convert Mr. B's into a standard sheet later.
Thanks Again.
