The mystery of the 'Spool'Can anyone please help me to understand what handling change I might expect if I change from a front diff to a spool?
Specifically round the tarmac/twisty Coastal track.
Thanks.

Normally with a spool you will find you have less turn in to the corner, but the car will exit the corner quicker.
It can take a bit of getting used to.
Personally I still use a diff, the only car I really liked with a spool was Leigh's TRF416 when I had a go with it. I have never got my 415 handling as well as that with a spool.

The car will want to push wide and understeer into the corner but it will be a lot more stable on the brakes.
You will also be able to get on the power much earlier and drag the car out of the corner.
As baz says it can take a bit of getting used to and I didnt like them to begin with but keep with it as they seem to be the fastest way round.

No understeer and bags of grip, that's not the set up when I tried your car

Just goes to show what's good fir one driving style may not be good for another
Never copy someone else setup , it probably won't work , we are all different in the way we drive , depends on where you pit the power on and off and how smooth you do it

Thanks chaps, I spent quite a bit of time dialling out over steer on corner entry so I think I should be able to dial some back in to compensate for the understeer.
I'll give it a go.
