well would you belive it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yes it seems like there is a great advantage to be gained by using the NEW Nosram and LRP spec ESC for stock racing .............. Put it on profile 8 and an Instant advantage over all the old ESC out there .......... Well this is what all the Forums and shops are saying ...........
Not fair they are £199 and I can't afford one
There is somthing about them where as they seem to wind the timing up as the speed of the rotor increases , somthing that the older ESC cant do
Instant advantage if you can afford one for stock racing 13.5 or 10.5

It's trueYep I can confirm that the new ESC's when in mode 8 area faster than the ISTC's. Frankly though the other 7 modes might as well not be there!
When testing at Cotswolds the new ESC gave more punch and top speed but you have to alter your gearing a bit as on a back to back test the same 10.5 motor hit 103 degrees C with the ISTC and 140 degress C with the new one!

Me too i'm afraid Trev.
It is a rocket ship in level 8.
It makes a 10.5 go like a 6.5.
Nothing went past me on the straight all day at Eastbourne, however i was having some severe troubles with the corners.
Somewhere like Brooklands and anyone without a 'Spec racing' esc will definately be at a disadvantage.

I'm surprised you havent already posted Trev???
He was the victim of the SPX power at the last round of the Numbnuts, albeit the gap wasnt quite big enough on one occasion
They truely are an advantage on the straights.
But Trev still won the Electric class overall,Well done.

Well I still have it ringing in my ears and I quote " SPX BABY " being shouted as an early warning signal every time BIG Dave was coming down the straight behind me , and catching up with me at the end of the straight , then not being able to slow down for the first corner !!!!!!
Yes there is a great advantage to be gained !!! On some tracks
I have Spoken to a man in the know and I have invested my winnings in somthing to make my car quicker , I am glad I spoke to him as he has saved me quite a bit of money and giver me a great deal as always Thanks Nick

22nd of April is when you can all get your hands on the Pearl from Nosram ........ It will knock the Stock Spec out of the water for sure

or this version
http://demonpowerproducts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4351
Some people have been able to get hold of this befor its release date its the ESC to have for sure
|

so i take u have one already i just got the stock spec as the new pearl is for mod
(thats wat i heard)
|
Mr.B
|
Differing opinions on other forums?
Some saying that the pearl is aimed at Mod racing but has got 'Stock' settings as well,but-and here's the but,not the same 'stock' settings as the SPX/Stock-spec.
And you would have to think that why would they release 2 top-spec esc's so close togethor?
I guess the track will tell the story.

The Pearl is Top of the line Just like the old Matrix ISTC was , so its the Best of the Best ...............
Be Carful with the Stock Spec ESC and the SPX if you get the gearing Wrong it will Blow the Motor
Aparently a lot of the Motors are Blowing because as we are lead to belive the ESC Increases the Timing as the Rotor Speed Builds Up , Which is why they are so fast BUT in a High Speed crash if you are FLAT OUT & you get all 4 wheels airbourn which we have all done and you keep your thumb on the power , with No load on the motor this is when its going to blow as the ESC tries to put even more power in and BANG ............... This is what I am lead to belive from what i have read on this subject ...........
A Motor can only go so fast which is why I am sticking with a Top ESC Not going for one that will kill motors at the slightest mistake .........
Also aparently you need to gear the motors different when running the Stock Spec & SPX ESC , If they are geared as we would for the old Matrix ITSC again BANG is a very possable outcome ...............
Good Luck to all who run the Stock Spec ESC we can keep a motor count below
Big Dave Brimly 3 motors in one meeting
Mr B 2 motors in one meeting

Always a chance. We are gearing at 5.6 at CMCC when we were on about 5.0.
I did 3 motors last year at West London and that was with the TC Spec LRP.
Just think,Brooklands in 3 weeks time. I'd better go get some motors in.

Having had good weather today for a real test it was off to Snetterton to give it a blast and I have to say on low settings it was Fast and controlable ! On the top profile it was way way faster and made the back end unstable , not undrivable but it was hard work .......
I would say my new magic box works well , I am very happy with my purchase

From Adreas Myberg at LRP;
Quote:
The SXX Competition #80900 nore the SXX TC-Spec #80950 won't feature any stock spec software or hardware like the SPX Stock Spec #80710.

Trev what motor were you running at snetterton ?
and what were your lap times like ?
thanks Ben

It was a 10.5 But I don't do lap times , I just go in the look and the lines I take .......
If that makes sence , you know when it's quick of when it's slow ......

Have to disagree Trev - lap times are the most important.
A car can feel very quick but against the clock is actually slow.
Converesly when a car feels slow it can actually be very quick - due to to everything working well - or it could just be slow
Lap times are the only way to tell what is actually happening

We have slipped off the point of this Tread !!!!!!!!
Why have we not herd how the SPX or Nosram went Sunday YET ???????
Looking at the Lap times on the STCC Website it would seem it was not Quicker ??????????????????

i had a few probs with getting grip coming out of the corners ..... also i need to play bout with gearing on sunday im sure it wasnt working rite.....

Mr.B

The gearing was definately key.But get it right and whoooosh.
Last year with the sphere TC i ran at 5.2-1. Sunday I ended up on 5.81-1 and it was awesome. The one occasion that i remember was in the 2nd leg of the A final(so no muppets taking part)me and another car came out of the hairpin onto to the straight side by side. Still side by side after about 20-25ft then SPX Baby its like having a secong gear kick in,if i had been the other car i would have been p****d off.It meant i was probably more than 6ft in front of him at the next corner.
For those in the know it was clear to see the cars on the straights that had the 'cheating' speedo's.
Bring on Brooklands.

Well Mark had his gearing right at Coastal Sunday it was going very well , his 13.5 was nearly as quick as a 10.5 !!!!!!!!!!!!! , Mark being a very precise driver was taking perfect lines all day and won the meeting ..............
I would say though if I had realised my diff was broken sooner i feel my little bit extra speed from the 10.5 would have won 2 of the final legs instead of the 1 i did win , but thats off the tread topic as well ..........
I would say the new esc Maek was using was giving him more grunt out of the corners But on the straight I did not feel like he was getting the Turbo affect like the Colchester boys was getting on there much longer straight .....................

the speedo is great once u get it geared right i think i went about 3 pinons smaller then i do with my lrp tc speedo. like trev said i still need more speed on the straight maybe new lipos and motor wud help or a 10.5

I saw one of the new Nosram motors at the weekend in the hands of a team driver.
Amazing magnets on them, just like a brushed motor, being very 'notchy'.
Oh and it was the class of the field as well!
