Right my findings from 6 hours of testing today are as follows :-
Right First motor tested was the LRP X11 13.5 i tryed this motor on 5 different ratios and it is simple it is Pig Slow unless you gear it to Hell & Back and then it hits 100 deg C , Which is No Good at all For a small track with the right gearing it would probably be OK ................
Then I put in the Trusted Novak 13.5 ss Pro , Which we all know has a very good turn of Speed :smt003 & it was not going to disapoint at Snetterton it was ballistic Geared right and even at silly gearing it still only reached 70 deg C , which is not to bad
Then it was the turn of the NEW Team Orion Vortex and all I can say is WOW this is the motor which is staying in my car ready for West London next weekend although it was damm hard finding a sweet spot for it after the first 3 runs I was ready to get it out the car and return to the Novak But I am so glad i persivered ....... Although when it was at the wrong gearing it was as slow as the X11 and it only took 1 pinion to though it off , When I got it wrong it was blipping 3/4 of the way down the straight :smt017 .......
Conclusion on the motors is this :-
LRP X11 was poor I belive this to be due to the Bonded rotor
Novak ss Pro was a bit like a GTB speed controler more like an on off switch BUT Quick also
Orion Vortex ( NEW ONE ) This was a Pig to get a ratio but when you did it was so smooth it was great as fast as the NOVAK for sure but so smooth in the way the power was delivered it DID NOT unsettle the car Mid corner Exit like the novak was :smt003
As for Setup I was chassing the setup all morning befor i started testing the motors when the track dryed out , changing this that and the other untill I had made the car undrivable :smt013
Truth of it was there was just no grip on the wet to damp track so I waisted all morning as when it dryed I returned to Kit setup :smt013 and it was flying again .................
After I had done my motor testing I returned to Setup and made a few changes which made the car a lot more smooth in the corners , its not to far off kit setup but far enough away to make a BIG difference :smt002
Now you may have noticed that I have not stated any of the Gear ratios I used , tried , or made the motor Blip on the straight this is because I feel that the gear ratio , Motor , Car all have a Big factor to play in this so if I was to quote figures it would be wrong ..................
All I will say is that going from a Small Spur gear to a BIG one keeping the same ratio made one hell of a difference on my car as did changing the internal ratio did also ..............

Some very interesting findings there Trev. Not sure at this stage what you have discovered other than a big spur is better than a small spur for any given ratio.
Be interesting to put your Vortex up against my Novak on the track to see where the differences can be noticed.
As for the 'blipping' motor do you mean it stuttered down the straight at a certain speed? Sounds very odd I must admit.
Glad that you had a good day, with plenty of alternatives tried - clearly you will be a force to be reckoned with at West London on the 8th.

Yes GreyFox it stuttered on the straight from 3/4 of the way down to the breaking point BUT I only had to go one pinion either way to make it work OK so Wired I tryed it again and yes it did it again on a certain ratio it just would not work :smt017
Hope I will be as you put it a force to be reconed with obviously ill share my findings with you and you alone befor everyone starts asking ,,, I can share my findings with you as I know you would with me ...........
NOT LIKE BEN KEEPING IT CLOSE TO HIS CHEST :smt018 Team work Ben come on :smt006

Sounds like the motor was Cogging then. Im not entirely sure why this can happen but i didnt think it was ment to happen with a sensored system!
